simplifying the Francis Turbine for 10 m head and 0.015 m^3/s flow rate.


TURBINE DESIGN
According to the flow rate and gross head the most suitable turbine is Francis turbine but construction and maintain is difficulty as well as high cost. We are going to design larger than 1 kw power plant.

Firstly we assume the required rpm as 750 rpm from the turbine.



Analyzing the Turbine


When the flow rate is 15 l/s and the inlet diameter to the spiral casing is 6cm,the inlet velocity to the turbine take around 5 m/s. This shows you there is no variation of the flow velocity of the involute casing and furthermore constant speed. The simulation shows how the flow velocity varies inside the reaction turbine.
